About Rare Foods Australia

Rare Foods Australia Limited (RFA) owns and operates an Augusta Seafood Processing facility in which product is prepared and distributed. 

RFA’s core product is its pristine, greenlip wild catch abalone, ranched for supply to customers all year round.  This unique, sustainable approach harnesses the natural currents and food sources of the ocean environment to grow a wild replica product, sought by world renowned chefs.

Our strategy is to strengthen our core business and deliver shareholder returns through diversification into rare foods and products.  We have a disciplined framework to assess value accretive opportunities for growth.  We continue to consider potential product partners along with other prospects that leverage our ocean leases, processing facility and sales and marketing channels.

Potential opportunities are at various stages of development including additional product supply chains, product trials, customer trials and shipments.

The Company’s head officed in Fremantle, we have our purpose-built facilities in Augusta, along with underwater ranch sites throughout the south coast of Western Australia.

Opportunity for an Experienced Deck Hand

We are seeking applications from self-motivated, experienced Deck Hands with a “safety-first” mindset to lead day-to-day operations on our Deployment Vessel, to improve our artificial reef. 

The role will be responsible for safely implementing the 2 Day Plan, and undertaking the day-to-day operations and maintenance for the Deployment Vessel

The core work of the role will be to:

  • Lead and promote improvements to safe work standards 
  • Implement the 2 Day Plan for the Deployment Vessel
  • Undertake Deployment Vessel operations and maintenance
  • Support Ranch asset maintenance and Seafood Operations

The role will be full-time on a 2-year maximum term contract, with the opportunity for ongoing permanent employment.  The role will require flexibility to adapt and schedule vessel operations based on weather conditions.

Based at our Augusta Operations, the role will require that the successful candidate resides in Augusta or regional centres in proximity.

Selection Criteria:

Essential – To be considered for the role, please provide evidence of the following:

  • Previous deck hand experience
  • Desire and proven ability to work at sea operating onboard heavy lifting equipment
  • Current Senior First Aid and CPR
  • Current Drivers License

Highly desirable – skills and experience including:

  • Forklift and Manitou tickets
  • HR License
  • Experience with rigging
  • Aquaculture experience
